Chicken pox is a virus infection that afflicts mainly children. There is now a vaccine available to prevent this infection. If your child has not already had the chicken pox, you can have your child immunized after 12 months of age. Children less than 13 years of age need one dose of the vaccine while teenagers and adults require two doses given 4 to 6 weeks apart.
